TERMS FOR CALCULATORS AND TOOLS

CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL LOS ANGELES (“CHLA,” “WE,” “OUR”) PROVIDES THESE ONLINE TOOLS, CALCULATORS, EQUATIONS, CONTENT, ALGORITHMS, AND/OR MATERIALS (COLLECTIVELY, “CALCULATOR(s)”) TO YOU SUBJECT TO THESE TERMS OF USE (THE “TERMS”). PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING OR ACCESSING ANY CALCULATOR(S). BY USING THE CALCULATOR(S), YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS AND YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THESE TERMS ARE A LEGAL CONTRACT BETWEEN YOU AND CHLA. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SITE OR THESE CALCULATOR(S).
- General. These Calculator(s) and the internet properties, webpages or mobile applications (collectively the “Site”) where these reside are owned and operated by Children's Hospital Los Angeles. These Terms explain how you are permitted to use these digital properties, and any related services therein made available by CHLA. For sake of clarity, the Site, Calculator(s) and all related content, collectively the “Service”.
- Special Legal Disclaimer. CHLA includes clinical tools and content (including the Calculator(s)) intended for use by healthcare professionals. These tools do not give professional advice; physicians and other healthcare professionals who use these tools, databases or Calculator(s) should exercise their own clinical judgment as to the information they provide. THE CALCULATOR(S) ARE NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE CLINICAL JUDGMENT, MEDICAL ADVICE, OR INDIVIDUAL PATIENT CARE AND SHOULD IN NO WAY BE USED AS THE SOLE BASIS OF RELIANCE FOR PRESCRIBING MEDICAL ADVICE, DIAGNOSIS, AND/OR TREATMENT.
Consumers (non-medical professionals) who use the tools or databases do so at their own risk. CHLA’s content developers have carefully tried to create its content to conform to the standards of professional practice that prevailed at the time of development. However, standards and practices in medicine change as new data become available and the individual medical professional should consult a variety of sources.
The contents of the Site and the Calculators, such as text, graphics, and images are for informational purposes only. CHLA does not recommend or endorse any specific tests, physicians, products, procedures, opinions, or other information that may be mentioned on the site.
WHILE INFORMATION ON THIS SITE HAS BEEN OBTAINED FROM SOURCES BELIEVED TO BE RELIABLE, NEITHER WE NOR OUR CONTENT PROVIDERS WARRANT THE ACCURACY OF THE INFORMATION CONTAINED ON THIS SITE.
This Site and the Calculators do not give medical advice or diagnostic services. Medical information changes rapidly. Neither we nor our content providers guarantee that the content covers all possible uses, directions, precautions, drug interactions, or adverse effects that may be associated with any therapeutic treatments.
You are hereby notified that the information contained herein may not meet Your needs. You are advised that, although the information is derived from medical research and literature we cannot guarantee either its correctness, comprehensiveness or currency. - Privacy. We do NOT collect any personal data while you use the Calculator(s) or when you browse through the pages of this Site and we do NOT use cookies to collect personal information or to track your browsing behavior. All data provided to the Calculator(s) is automatically deleted when you close your browser. Using one of our free software tools (including the Calculator) does not require registration nor any other method of sharing personal information with CHLA, i.e. any such transaction is totally anonymous. Whenever you use the Calculator(s), We do NOT collect the information that your browser sends to us that is called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser version, the time and date of your use, and other statistics. We however may collect such Log Data when you visit our other website pages. Please refer to our general Privacy Policy for more details about the information we collect when you visit other pages of our Site.
- General Use, Access License and Restrictions on Use. You shall use the Site for lawful purposes only. Any conduct by you that in CHLA’s discretion restricts or inhibits any other user from using the Site will not be permitted. When you access a non-CHLA site, please understand that it is independent from CHLA and that CHLA has no control over the content on that website. A link to a non-CHLA website does not mean that CHLA accepts any responsibility for the content or use of such website.

The Service (including all software, text, materials, graphics, logos, images and other design elements contained therein) are the property of CHLA, or our sponsors, subsidiaries or affiliates (collectively, “Business Partners”), and are protected by United States of America and international copyright law, trademark law, and trade secret law, as well as other state, federal and international laws and regulations. We own a copyright in this Site as a collective work and/or compilation, and in the selection, coordination and arrangement of the Calculator(s) and other content contained in this Site. By using the Service after CHLA has updated the Terms, you understand that you will be accepting and are agreeing to all the updated Terms; if you do not agree with any of the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
- Miscellaneous. These terms of use shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You hereby consent to the personal jurisdiction of the State of California, acknowledge that venue is proper in any state or Federal court in the State of California and agree that any action related to these terms of use must be brought in a state or federal court in the State of California. These Terms set forth the entire understanding and agreement between us with respect to the subject matter hereof. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck and the remaining provisions shall be enforced. All sections which by their context ought to survive these Terms shall survive any termination or expiration of these Terms.
